BE THE CHANGE. END POLIO.
NO CHILD CAN BE LEFT BEHIND IN THE FIGHT AGAINST POLIO

What Is Polio and Why Is It Dangerous?
Polio is a deadly but preventable disease that still threatens children in our country. With the simple, free polio vaccine, you can protect your children from life-long paralysis.
Why the vaccine is essential?
Every child deserves the opportunity to walk, run, and play free from the fear of paralysis. With just two simple drops, you can safeguard every child from the devastating effects of polio.

You are responsible for their future!
The polio vaccine gives hope to families, offering protection even in the most difficult times. When you vaccinate your children, you’re protecting their joy, their learning, and their dreams.
Protect your children today!
HOW IT WORKS
Vaccination Campaign is coming, discover everything you need to do:

1
Stay home with your children and open the door for the vaccinators

2
Present your children under the age of 5 to the health worker and ensure they receive the vaccine

3
Confirm the finger mark is given and alert your neighbours to prepare their children.
At other times, polio vaccine is available at government health facilities.
Ask your local community health worker or doctor for more information.
Remember!
Even if your children have received polio drops before, they still need more doses to stay protected in every polio campaign. Don't skip any round and give them the polio vaccine every time it is offered.
Every Dose Counts!
FACTS ABOUT POLIO

HOW MANY DOSES OF OPV DOES A CHILD NEED BEFORE THEY ARE PROTECTED?
The oral polio vaccine requires multiple doses for full effectiveness, with the exact number depending on the child's health, nutrition, and exposure to other viruses. Until fully immunized, the child remains at risk of polio.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF POLIO?
Initial symptoms of polio are:
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Vomiting
- Stiffness in the neck
- Pain in the limbs

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF POLIO?
One in every 200 persons infected with polio leads to irreversible paralysis (usually in the legs).
Among those paralysed, 5%-10% die when their breathing muscles are immobilized by the virus.

100% of countries that have eradicated polio have done it using the polio vaccine.
Despite the development of effective vaccines, polio continued to affect numerous developing countries. It was only with the launch of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) in 1988 that a coordinated international effort led to a dramatic reduction in polio cases, over 99% globally.
Polio vaccine is one of the safest vaccines ever used in the history of the world.
This success is the result of a commitment from governments, health organizations, and communities worldwide. Now, we stand on the brink of complete eradication, but the final step requires your participation.
Ensure your children are vaccinated and encourage your community to do the same. Together, we can make polio history.
