NO CHILD CAN BE LEFT BEHIND IN THE FIGHT AGAINST POLIO
There’s a Polio outbreak. Together we can stop it.
Papua New Guinea has been free from polio for years. Our children were safe from this dangerous disease. Now, polio has returned to some parts of our country. This is serious, but we can stop it together.

Why is there a Polio outbreak?
Polio virus spreads easily, especially amongst children who have not been fully immunized against polio and other childhood diseases.
You are responsible for their future!
For a long time because PNG was Polio-free, fewer children received their immunization. This left many children unprotected. Now that Polio virus is active again, our children’s lives are at risk. It's very important that every child gets protected immunized as soon as possible.

BE THE CHANGE. END POLIO.

Polio can cause lifelong paralysis
Sadly, the threat is real, Polio is a serious disease that attacks the nervous system. It can cause paralysis – meaning a child can lose the ability to move their arms or legs, sometimes permanently – and in some cases it can even cause death. This can make it difficult for children to walk, play, and live a full life. If you see sudden weakness of limbs in your children, take them to the nearest health facility immediately to get tested for Polio.
The good news is that this can be easily prevented through immunization.
OUR CHILDREN ARE AT RISK!
The National Department of Health (NDoH) has analyzed the situation and confirmed that children under 10 years old are at the highest risk of getting sick from this polio outbreak.
We must act now to protect them.
Your Child's Shield: Free Immunization Services
The only way to protect your child from Polio is through immunization. It's safe, effective, and free. Polio immunization has been used all over the world and has helped many countries eradicate it. Doctors, health workers, parents, and communities here in Papua New Guinea trust and recommend it.

DON'T WAIT!
We are asking all mothers and fathers in PNG to immunize all your children under 10 years old against Polio, irrespective of their previous immunization status. Even one missed vaccine can put your child at risk.

Take your children to the nearest health facility or to the health teams visiting your communities, now.

Schools going children will receive the vaccine in schools.

Confirm the finger mark is given and alert your neighbours to prepare their children.
Please bring your child's health record book if you have one.
If not, don't worry, your child can still be immunized.
