GPEI 2026 Action Plan Snapshot: Focused Investment, Lasting Impact

This November 2025 GPEI publication is a five-page visual summary of the GPEI 2026 Action Plan, designed as a high-impact communication and advocacy tool for senior decision-makers, donors, and strategic partners. Titled "Focused Investment, Lasting Impact," it distills the core rationale, key priorities, and expected outcomes of the 2026 Action Plan into an accessible, visually rich format. Available in English, French, and Arabic.

The snapshot opens with a framing statement situating the 2026 Action Plan in a challenging global context — conflict, economic strain, humanitarian crises — and argues that the GPEI must step up its efforts rather than retreat. It characterizes the plan as "smarter, leaner and more focused," reflecting the adaptive management philosophy from the midterm review.

The document presents what is possible with full political and financial backing: eradicating WPV1 from Afghanistan and Pakistan, closing active cVDPV2 outbreaks, and building resilient health systems for a lasting polio-free world. Key messaging reinforces that the cost of inaction — allowing wild poliovirus to rebound globally within a decade — far exceeds the cost of completing eradication. The 2026 plan is positioned as a focused investment strategy that concentrates resources on the highest-impact activities.

Primarily designed for GPEI board members, donor government ministers, UN officials, and media professionals, this document enables the political commitment conversations at the highest decision-making levels and functions as an effective onboarding document for new donor partners.

Who should read this: GPEI board members, senior partner leadership, donor government ministers, UN senior officials, global health advocates, communications professionals, media, new institutional partners.

Document value: High-impact advocacy tool enabling senior-level political engagement and donor mobilization in support of the 2026 Action Plan. Essential for GPEI's external relations and resource mobilization functions.

Available in: English, French, Arabic
