This Part 2 of the GPEI SOPs outlines the main elements of the strategy to detect and respond appropriately to any type 2 polioviruses from environmental sources or circulating in the population post OPV2 cessation. It provides guidance to global, regional and national public health officials and policy makers for the necessary steps required to rapidly notify the proper authorities, conduct an initial risk assessment, and develop an effective response to promptly curtail any type 2 poliovirus outbreaks.
